Kenya Safari & BeachTwin-centre and beach-only options
Safari
Beach
Our new Safari and Beach itinerary offers the best of both worlds in Africa. Kenya is the original safari destination, with easy to reach game parks offering unforgettable wildlife encounters, while the Indian Ocean lapping the east coast makes for a an exotic beach holiday. The Safari experience is a three-day, two-night adventure into the bush, with four game drives included to ensure you can write your own ‘Big Cat Diary’ along the way. First, we visit the Taita Hills Sanctuary, a private game park protecting 28,000 acres of rolling savanna and bush. With 50 different mammals and 300 species of bird living here, there’s every chance of spotting elephant and giraffe during the game drives. Our day and a night at Sarova Saltlick Game Lodge here is a truly luxurious safari experience, with the individual lodges on stilts set around several watering holes which, amazingly, can be floodlit at night. Imagine sipping a G&T in comfort while watching a lion come to slake his thirst… Our second game lodge, Ngutuni, is just an hour’s drive away on the edge of Tsavo East National Park. Ngutuni is privately set in 10,000 acres of bush with a waterhole at the heart of the complex. Lion, elephant, buffalo, giraffe and umpteen species of antelope are all residents here. At Ngutini, the steeply-pitched ‘makuti’ roofs keep the inside of the lodges cool, while the main lounge is open on all sides to make sure every thirsty animal has an audience! A day and a night at Ngutini means an opportunity to take a host of photos with which to remember your own Out of Africa experience! After two nights on safari, the rest of the holiday is spent relaxing at the Papillon Lagoon Reef hotel just outside Mombasa. The hotel is in a superb location right on Diani beach, possibly the most beautiful in Kenya. The architecture is Swahili-style, set in exotic gardens where Colobus monkeys like to live in the baobab trees. But while the look of the hotel is traditional, the facilities and service are bang up to date. There’s a great pool with a swim-up bar, a spectacular restaurant serving international as well as Kenyan food and a watersports centre offering windsurfing and fishing trips, as well as snorkeling and diving sessions to explore the wonderful coral reefs.
The ensuite rooms here are double or twin for sole use, of course, and enjoy a view of the lush gardens from either a patio or balcony. Each is kitted out in colonial style, with wood floors and mosquito nets, as well as a ceiling fan and air-conditioning, hairdryer and room safe. If you prefer, you can opt to spend the whole holiday at the beach, with seven nights at the Papillon Lagoon Reef hotel on an All-inclusive basis.
Important noteThe outbound flight is overnight, arriving in Kenya on the morning of day 2. The inbound flight is a daytime service, landing London late afternoon of day 8. What's Included
